(This post will briefly recap three of the achievements for the USA in the Vancouver Olympics)
Speed Skating:Apolo Anton Ohno became the most decorated athlete in America Winter Olympic history.
The Medals: U.S.A. finished with the most medals at the Winter Olympics for the first time since Lake Placid in 1932. The United States Of America had 37 medals, Germany had 30, and Canada had 26 medals.
Hockey: U.S.A. went into the olympic hockey tournament as a little more than an after thought. They came in to the preliminary round and beat everyone and then they entered the tournament part of it and beat some of the best teams in the world. They even upset favorite Canada in the quarter-finals. They both won in the semi-finals and faced-off for the second time of the tournament on Sunday. Canada started with an early lead and then U.S.A. scored the last goal of the second period and scored the only goal in the third period with 24.4 seconds left to tie the game at two. The game then went on to the 4 V. 4 OT and Canada won on a goal from Sidney Crosby at 7:40.
